JANJIRA MARINE RADIANT WHITE | REVIEW

One thing I love the most about summer is the longer nights and brighter mornings. One thing I don’t like about summer is the longer nights and brighter mornings also. That doesn’t make sense, right? Let me explain!

I love being woken up by the sun and also having late night strolls when the sun is setting. The reason why I also dislike this is because it means my sleeping pattern goes out the window! I end up waking earlier and falling asleep later. Naturally, this means my skin gets a bit tired and dull, so it’s always good to crack out the products that help to brighten it!

Janjira is a Thai skincare company with products that are built around the bathing rituals of ancient Thai royalty. All products are made with naturally active ingredients that are proven to have skincare benefits. I’ve been trying some of the Marine Radiant White range for the past month, which helps to lighten and illuminate the skin. I must say, I’ve been impressed with the range!

MARINE RADIANT WHITE BRIGHTENING BOOSTER SERUM

I’m a fan of this serum! It helps to hydrate and brighten the skin and for someone with dry skin like me, that’s a must have. The serum is also enriched with Vitamin C, which helps to protect the skin, as well as having anti-aging properties. Winner all round, I’d say! The product doesn’t really have a scent, but I’m not mad about that. I find anything too perfumed just irritates my skin, and I’m not about that life. I would definitely recommend this product to someone looking for a new serum to add to their routine!

MARINE RADIANT WHITE BRIGHTENING TONER

If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you’ll know a toner is the first item I skip from my daily routine! However, I think I may be a convert after trying this one. It felt so refreshing on the skin and because it’s oil-free, I wasn’t left feeling greasy. I always keep an eye out for any product with Sodium Hyaluronate in as it helps to reduce flakiness and gives your skins moisture content a little boost. Positive thoughts all around with this product.

MARINE RADIANT WHITE ILLUMINATING DAY CREAM

This product sits lovely on the skin. It’s not too heavy, but packs a punch! My skin was left feeling smooth and moisturised. A benefit of this cream is that it actually has UVA and UBV protection in. I don’t protect my skin as much as I should, so it’s great to have it built into such a lightweight product. It also has Vitamin B3 in, which helps to protect against pollution and other irritants as well as managing the skins inflammatory response. That benefit is great for someone whose skin is redness prone, like me.

Overall, I’m impressed with this range from Janjira. I’ve never tried anything before, but I’m glad I did! It’s on the more luxury end of the skincare spectrum, but definitely worth the investment. If you’re looking to revamp your routine, definitely check them out!

SCARAMOUCHE & FANDANGO | REVIEW

SCARAMOUCHE & FANDANGO | REVIEW

Sometimes skincare is too complicated, don’t you agree? Everyone doesn’t understand the benefits of a complex list of ingredients, and why should you need to? At the end of the day you want your skincare to be as easy and accessible as possible. You shouldn’t have to have a Pharmacy Degree to know what every lotion and potion does.

Scaramouche & Fandango have been kind enough to send me a couple of products to try out. I’ve used the brand in the past; I was first introduced to them in my ManKind Grooming Box. Their aim is to put the simplicity back into male grooming. Sometimes you just want a product to work, without the fuss of working out whether the PH level of your skin matches the chemical formula of the product. I’ve been using them for the past month now and have found some favourites I’m definitely going to be repurchasing.

Shampoo

The main thing I want from a shampoo is a good lather. I know that this can actually be drying on your hair, so it’s always a difficult compromise. The Scaramouch & Fandango Shampoo lathers well and actually doesn’t dry my hair out! It smells clean and it’s got a subtle smell. I do wish the smell was a bit stronger, but we can’t have everything. It’s straightforward, no fuss and does what you’d expect!

Conditioner

Now in true lazy Shaun fashion, I want a conditioner that doesn’t necessarily have to be left on for 5 minutes to do any good. This one definitely caters to that laziness. I put it in, wait a minute, and wash it out. Simple! My hair is left feeling smooth, but not too soft that I can’t style it. It’s difficult to find a good conditioner that doesn’t leave my heavy and flat, however this one does the job!

[5/5]

Body Wash

As you may know from previous posts, lil’ ol’ me has sensitive skin. I’m actually allergic to most soap so have to be careful with shower gels. This one has a masculine smell, it’s light and doesn’t foam too much. It’s actually really nice! Additional bonus as it didn’t leave my skin pink and irritated. I will definitely be buying this again.

 Face Scrub

This scrub is gentle. Probably too gentle for me. I think the main purpose is to use it daily, so it’s not really that abrasive. If you wanted a scrub that you could use consistently, this would be the one for you. I wish it was slightly grittier, but all in all, it’s a decent scrub. You wouldn’t need to worry about making your skin worse with this scrub, you just need to grab and go.

[3/5]

Shave Cream

Now this was a tough one for me to try. I recently discovered the MenU Shave Cream and fell in love with it. I’ve never had a product that gave me a close shave, without irritating my skin. I was pleasantly surprised with the Scaramouche & Fandango Shave Cream. It lathers up well and protected my skin from my razor. It hasn’t convinced me enough to change my regular, but once I run out I’ll definitely be using this.

[4/5]

Hydrator

You’re probably bored of me rambling on about my dry skin, but I can hardly ever find a reasonably priced cream that does the job. I’m sad to say this didn’t live up to expectations. Don’t get me wrong, it feels and smells lovely. It just wasn’t hydrating enough for my skin. If you’re the everyday man, with normal/oily skin, I imagine this cream would be great for you. I do want to note my skin is eczema prone though, so hardly anything works for me.

[2/5]

All in all, Scaramouche & Fandango is a winner for me!

The products do the job, all smell lovely and look great. I love that all the packaging matches and is very simple and clean. The products are really reasonably priced which means if you’re looking to invest in a whole new range, this wouldn’t put you out of pocket. There’s also no need for frills, every product is labelled simply and it’s easy to know what everything does.

AVAJ GROOMING | REVIEW

AVAJ GROOMING | REVIEW

I’m a victim of dry skin! It’s difficult for me to go by my daily life without ending the day looking like a lizard. Okay, that’s a bit dramatic, but you catch my drift.

Avaj have been nice enough to send me some products tailored toward dry skin. I’m always on the lookout for body creams to help with my dryness, I find that it’s one of the most difficult things to come across. Most brands main priorities are on face care and body care tends to come as an add-on.

I was sent four products to review. The Opulent Jet Body Butter, the Spray Mist Sandalwood Body Moistursier, the Strawberry Lip Shine and the Peppercorn Exfoliating Face Scrub. I’ve been using these products for the past month now and I’m seriously impressed. They come nicely packaged and feel really luxurious. The packaging is metal with simplistic branding. In my opinion, it’s some of the nicest packaging I’ve come across. It feels really expensive. We deserve a treat, right guys?

The Opulent Jet Body Butter is a thick body butter that has proven results for helping dryness. It protects the skin against drying, accelerates healing and nourishes. I was really keen to try this as I’d actually heard good things on social media about it. I always tend to get dry skin on the tops of my arms and couldn’t wait to give this a go. It’s creamy and feels lovely on the skin. I wouldn’t use it all over my body because it’s a bit thick, but I put it on my problem areas and it’s instantly soft and smooth! It also has a lovely smell, masculine and not too overpowering. I’m definitely going to repurchase this again, it has done wonders for my skin.

The Spray Mist Sandalwood Body Moisturiser is something else I was really keen to try. Moisturising my body is a massive chore, so anything that makes it easier is a winner. Plus, I love the smell of sandalwood so this product instantly got off to a good start. It’s a lot lighter than the body butter and the smell is a lot more fragrant, which I’m not mad about! It glides onto the skin easily and leaves my skin smelling and feeling great. I tend to use this in the areas where I don’t use Opulent Jet as it’s a bit lighter and absorbs into the skin quicker. Pairing both products together has been a winning combination for me.

The Peppercorn Exfoliating Face Scrub helps to remove dead skin, oil and dirt from your skin. It’s a cream based gentle scrub and is not too abrasive. For someone with sensitive skin this is a plus point. It has Sweet Almond Oil in which is known in skincare for its moisturising properties. It did help to remove the dry skin from my face, especially around my nose.

The Strawberry Lip Shine is a nice, simple lip balm. It’s petroleum based so has a similar feeling to Vaseline, but with a subtle strawberry scent. Pretty straight forward, but does the job well!

Overall, I’m really impressed with Avaj. They’re a Yorkshire based brand and you can actually tell they care about their customers. Alongside skincare, Avaj retail underwear and accessories. I’d definitely check them out if you’re interested in skincare tailored toward men. You also get a couple of cheeky chocolates thrown in with your order. #Winning

Avaj Grooming is reasonably priced and really high quality. Check out Avaj here.

BUBBLEOFF! | REVIEW & EXCITING NEWS

BUBBLEOFF! | REVIEW & EXCITING NEWS

I’ve literally been so excited to share this news with you all. I never expected I’d get an opportunity like this, but when BubbleOff! spoke to me, I was literally jumping with joy!

I’ve named a face cream! How cool is that?!

BubbleOff! is a Manchester based, cruelty-free, skincare business. Started by two sisters, Emily and Clare, they handcraft natural products that are all suitable for sensitive skin. They’ve recently added a new men’s face cream to their range and asked me to come up with the name.

The new men’s face cream from BubbleOff! is called… *drum roll*

FILTHY!

Filthy is a luxurious moisturiser for men, that’s made with natural oils and butters to leave even the toughest of skin feeling soft.  I’ve been using this product for a couple of weeks now and I love it. It’s really smooth and creamy and literally glides over the skin. Living in a city means my skin gets attacked with pollutants and lil’ nasties that fly around the air. Once I get home and have a deep cleanse, I need something to add all the goodness back into my skin. Filthy does this. If you’re in Manchester, make sure you follow @BubbleOff on Twitter and get your hands on this product. For something Vegan and cruelty-free, you wont be disappointed!

I also got to try a selection of their Wah Wahs, Bath Bombs and Cold Pressed Soaps. All of these products didn’t disappoint.

I have naturally dry and sensitive skin, so I’m always cautious when adding things to my bath. My favourite product that I tried was the Vanilla Pod Wah Wah, I was instantly in love. It left my skin feeling soft and calmed, which is something I always look for in a bath product. Plus, it smells great! Not overly fragrant, but enough so that it’s noticeable. If you are a fan of Lush Cosmetics, you’ll love anything and everything from BubbleOff! They’re a fraction of the price and equal in quality, what more could you want?

Along with the two previously mentioned products, I’ve also tried the Green Goddess Bath Bomb, the Bountiful Beauty Wah Wah and the Heisenberg Cold Pressed Soap. I’m genuinely so impressed with everything I’ve tried. They all smell lovely and don’t dry my skin out. Winning!

If you head over to BubbleOff’s website, you can actually get a gift box that includes a selection of their products. You can even sign up to a subscription box and get £20’s worth of products for £15! Good, right?

Check out their website here.

FORZA STIR IT SLIM | REVIEW

FORZA STIR IT SLIM | REVIEW

Who else is loving the sun as much as me? I’m taking it in because we all know this isn’t going to last long, especially in Manchester! I’ve mentioned in previous posts, around this time of year, I’m on ‘Mission Beach Body’. I’m always shaking up my diet and trying something to help give my body that little head start.

I tried ‘Shake It Slim’ from Forza last month and was delighted with the results. Needless to say, when they mentioned this new product to me, I was really interested in knowing more. ‘Stir It Slim’ is a meal replacement, but comes in the form of a hot drink. This is something I’ve never come across before, but it means I can have this in place of my morning coffee as a calorie controlled meal. If you’re a coffee lover like me, I’m sure you’re intrigued. Forza are the only company I know that do a hot shake like this.

It comes in three variations: Caramel Latte, Latte and Hot Chocolate. The first two actually contain coffee, so they give you that little bit of caffeine boost in the morning!

I was really confused as to how this was going to taste and how I was going to feel about it. I’ve tried a number of meal replacement shakes in the past and I’ve actually tried them warm, which didn’t really go down too well.  You have to make sure you stir them, rather than shaking. Otherwise you’ll end up being covered in it. I’m not speaking from experience.

When I first tasted it, I’ll be honest, I wasn’t keen. It was too thick for my liking and I couldn’t get used to having a meal replacement shake that was hot. The flavour was actually great and definitely the kind of Caramel Latte I’d drink. It probably didn’t help that I was so keen to drink it, I took a sip when it was still boiling. Word to the wise: don’t do that.

I was adamant this wasn’t going to defeat me, so I came up with a solution! I added twice as much water and drank it throughout the morning. Now this is something I can get on board with! It made the product a thinner consistency and definitely had a texture a lot more similar to coffee, rather than a shake.

This is definitely something I’d keep in my cupboard. I can’t function in the morning without a coffee, so even better when said coffee keeps me full until lunch!

You can get these directly from Forza or from Boots.

Have you tried any meal replacement shakes before?
