Want to visit Phuket but want more information? My travel guide should give you some ideas.
Phuket, possibly one of the most well-known islands in Thailand is a beautiful destination for anyone looking for a beach holiday. Whe you travel here, I know you’ll instinctively want to spend all your time lazing on white sands. While that’s a viable option, this island is worth exploring further. I ventured here after stopping off at Bangkok, in an attempt to have a relaxing beach break. To some extent, I got that. Read through to the end of this post to find out why.
What Makes Phuket Special?
You’d honestly only have to google this to figure it out. Phuket is simply beautiful. The island is packed full of beaches, rainforest, and tropical wild life. Don’t be surprised if you drive past working elephants, or encounter a wild monkey that tries to steal your fruit. Can I also mention that it’s ridiculously cheap?
What three things must you do?
1. Relax On The Beaches
Believe me when I say, there’s plenty of them. Now I know the below beach doesn’t look relaxing, but that’s because it’s iconic. It’s actually Maya Bay, featured in the film The Beach. Tourists flock to see it, and when you see the clear blue sea, you’ll know why. If you explore Phuket at the right time, you’ll actually be able to find a secluded beach that’s perfect for relaxing on.
2. Visit The Phuket Big Buddha
You’ve got to visit some local landmarks, right? The strange thing about The Phuket Big Buddha, is that it’s actually not finish. I’m not too sure if it will be when you’re reading this post, but yeah. A good thing about that though, is that you can actually donate money to complete the building. In return, you get to sign your name on the back of a tile that is used in the construction of the Buddha’s base!
3. Feed The Locals Of Monkey Island
If you love monkeys as much as me, you definitely need to stop off here. Most of the day trips to Phi Phi actually stop of at Monkey Island. It’s a cute little mass of sand, with a bundle of palm trees. What’s better is that there are plenty of monkeys running around. From full adults, to little infants, it’s honestly the cutest thing ever. You can’t really feed them, however the tour guides normally bring nuts and bananas to encourage them to venture away from the trees.
Phuket is honestly such a beautiful place. Unfortunately, when I was there I had a little accident including a road and a scooter. Yeah, I fell off. I didn’t let it ruin my adventure though, and I still managed to take in all the sights of Phuket. What’s the moral of the story? Hail a taxi to get around.
