Sometimes skincare is too complicated, don’t you agree? Everyone doesn’t understand the benefits of a complex list of ingredients, and why should you need to? At the end of the day you want your skincare to be as easy and accessible as possible. You shouldn’t have to have a Pharmacy Degree to know what every lotion and potion does.

Scaramouche & Fandango have been kind enough to send me a couple of products to try out. I’ve used the brand in the past; I was first introduced to them in my ManKind Grooming Box. Their aim is to put the simplicity back into male grooming. Sometimes you just want a product to work, without the fuss of working out whether the PH level of your skin matches the chemical formula of the product. I’ve been using them for the past month now and have found some favourites I’m definitely going to be repurchasing.

The main thing I want from a shampoo is a good lather. I know that this can actually be drying on your hair, so it’s always a difficult compromise. The Scaramouch & Fandango Shampoo lathers well and actually doesn’t dry my hair out! It smells clean and it’s got a subtle smell. I do wish the smell was a bit stronger, but we can’t have everything. It’s straightforward, no fuss and does what you’d expect!

Now in true lazy Shaun fashion, I want a conditioner that doesn’t necessarily have to be left on for 5 minutes to do any good. This one definitely caters to that laziness. I put it in, wait a minute, and wash it out. Simple! My hair is left feeling smooth, but not too soft that I can’t style it. It’s difficult to find a good conditioner that doesn’t leave my heavy and flat, however this one does the job!

Body Wash

As you may know from previous posts, lil’ ol’ me has sensitive skin. I’m actually allergic to most soap so have to be careful with shower gels. This one has a masculine smell, it’s light and doesn’t foam too much. It’s actually really nice! Additional bonus as it didn’t leave my skin pink and irritated. I will definitely be buying this again.

 Face Scrub

This scrub is gentle. Probably too gentle for me. I think the main purpose is to use it daily, so it’s not really that abrasive. If you wanted a scrub that you could use consistently, this would be the one for you. I wish it was slightly grittier, but all in all, it’s a decent scrub. You wouldn’t need to worry about making your skin worse with this scrub, you just need to grab and go.

Shave Cream

Now this was a tough one for me to try. I recently discovered the MenU Shave Cream and fell in love with it. I’ve never had a product that gave me a close shave, without irritating my skin. I was pleasantly surprised with the Scaramouche & Fandango Shave Cream. It lathers up well and protected my skin from my razor. It hasn’t convinced me enough to change my regular, but once I run out I’ll definitely be using this.

You’re probably bored of me rambling on about my dry skin, but I can hardly ever find a reasonably priced cream that does the job. I’m sad to say this didn’t live up to expectations. Don’t get me wrong, it feels and smells lovely. It just wasn’t hydrating enough for my skin. If you’re the everyday man, with normal/oily skin, I imagine this cream would be great for you. I do want to note my skin is eczema prone though, so hardly anything works for me.

All in all, Scaramouche & Fandango is a winner for me!

The products do the job, all smell lovely and look great. I love that all the packaging matches and is very simple and clean. The products are really reasonably priced which means if you’re looking to invest in a whole new range, this wouldn’t put you out of pocket. There’s also no need for frills, every product is labelled simply and it’s easy to know what everything does.

I’m a victim of dry skin! It’s difficult for me to go by my daily life without ending the day looking like a lizard. Okay, that’s a bit dramatic, but you catch my drift.

Avaj have been nice enough to send me some products tailored toward dry skin. I’m always on the lookout for body creams to help with my dryness, I find that it’s one of the most difficult things to come across. Most brands main priorities are on face care and body care tends to come as an add-on.

I was sent four products to review. The Opulent Jet Body Butter, the Spray Mist Sandalwood Body Moistursier, the Strawberry Lip Shine and the Peppercorn Exfoliating Face Scrub. I’ve been using these products for the past month now and I’m seriously impressed. They come nicely packaged and feel really luxurious. The packaging is metal with simplistic branding. In my opinion, it’s some of the nicest packaging I’ve come across. It feels really expensive. We deserve a treat, right guys?

The Opulent Jet Body Butter is a thick body butter that has proven results for helping dryness. It protects the skin against drying, accelerates healing and nourishes. I was really keen to try this as I’d actually heard good things on social media about it. I always tend to get dry skin on the tops of my arms and couldn’t wait to give this a go. It’s creamy and feels lovely on the skin. I wouldn’t use it all over my body because it’s a bit thick, but I put it on my problem areas and it’s instantly soft and smooth! It also has a lovely smell, masculine and not too overpowering. I’m definitely going to repurchase this again, it has done wonders for my skin.

The Spray Mist Sandalwood Body Moisturiser is something else I was really keen to try. Moisturising my body is a massive chore, so anything that makes it easier is a winner. Plus, I love the smell of sandalwood so this product instantly got off to a good start. It’s a lot lighter than the body butter and the smell is a lot more fragrant, which I’m not mad about! It glides onto the skin easily and leaves my skin smelling and feeling great. I tend to use this in the areas where I don’t use Opulent Jet as it’s a bit lighter and absorbs into the skin quicker. Pairing both products together has been a winning combination for me.

The Peppercorn Exfoliating Face Scrub helps to remove dead skin, oil and dirt from your skin. It’s a cream based gentle scrub and is not too abrasive. For someone with sensitive skin this is a plus point. It has Sweet Almond Oil in which is known in skincare for its moisturising properties. It did help to remove the dry skin from my face, especially around my nose.

The Strawberry Lip Shine is a nice, simple lip balm. It’s petroleum based so has a similar feeling to Vaseline, but with a subtle strawberry scent. Pretty straight forward, but does the job well!

Overall, I’m really impressed with Avaj. They’re a Yorkshire based brand and you can actually tell they care about their customers. Alongside skincare, Avaj retail underwear and accessories. I’d definitely check them out if you’re interested in skincare tailored toward men. You also get a couple of cheeky chocolates thrown in with your order. #Winning

Avaj Grooming is reasonably priced and really high quality. Check out Avaj here.

I always like to have a selection of fragrances on hand. I like to have a couple that fit with multiple occasions and multiple moods, does anyone else do the same?

At the minute, all of the fragrances I have tend to have a fresh clean smell. I’ve been on the hunt for something that was a bit more ‘manly’ and a little less ‘clean’.

Gruhme is a British brand that launched in 2013. It was created with the modern day male in mind, designed to be worn all day, every day. At first smell, this fragrance packs a bit of a punch! It’s quite strong, which is due to it have 14% fragrance. If you put on too much, it can be a bit over-whelming. I found that I only needed a couple of sprays, which means this would last a lot longer than any other fragrance I have.

Gruhme has a lovely blend of woody and citrusy smells including amber, bergamot and lemon.  It’s definitely a fragrance that has a distinct scent and I genuinely can’t compare it to anything I’ve smelt on the market. It’s masculine and elegant, but also quite fresh and clean.

All in all, Gruhme gets a thumbs up from me! I’d find this is a bit too intense for me to wear to work but I would definitely wear this for a nighttime event! When I’m getting a bit fancy, y’know what I mean? I typically go for light fragrances that don’t really have a punch, but if you’re looking for a fragrance that makes heads turn, this is the one for you!

You can buy Gruhme here.

What’s your favourite type of fragrance?

*Gruhme was sent to me for purpose of review. All opinions are 100% my own.*

I’ve always been a fan of salt scrubs. Having naturally dry skin, I try and use one once or twice a week to get rid of dead skin. Grim, right?

Glamour Grit is an oil-free salt scrub that gently exfoliates the skin to reveal softer, smoother skin. It’s enriched with Vitamin E, Green Tea and Sea Kelp. All of which are known for their skin care benefits. One thing I’ve always hated about scrubs is how messy they are. Luckily with this one being oil-free and salt based, the clean up is easy! It also has a lovely grapefruit smell that is really refreshing and invigorating.

I’ve had a Mankind Grooming Box before and loved every single item! I was excited to get my hands on the Limited Edition March Grooming Box and was just as excited to try out all the products inside! It’s only available for March, so head over and get hold of one while you can!

I have naturally curly and coarse hair so I’m always very specific with the kinds of products I use. When I noticed 3 of the 6 products were hair related, I was intrigued to know how I was going to find them! I’ve tried them all out and I’ll break down my thoughts.

MONU for Men Fresh Wash

First and foremost, I love the smell! I could definitely smell the Ginseng and it made my face feel lovely and fresh. I also really enjoy products with papaya enzymes in as it naturally works to exfoliate the skin without the abrasiveness of a scrub. One thing I wasn’t so keen on is that this product appeared to have glitter in! It was only a really tiny amount and I understand it’s probably there to make your skin glow, but still, I wasn’t keen on that. If it weren’t for the glitter, I would have repurchased this product again.

I didn’t know what to make of this product. I was expecting a gel, but then it’s a cream that when worked into the hands, liquefies! Strange, right? This product aims to add volume and body to your hair without leaving your hair feeling sticky. It definitely does what it says on the tin. With my hair being naturally curly, it has enough volume naturally. I tend to go for products to tame my hair, not to give it that added ‘oompf’. If you wanted a product to give you a bit of lift, this would be the one for you. Personally, it made my hair bigger than I’d usually go for, but if that’s the look you’re going for, go buy this product!

Redken Cerafill Defy Shampoo

The main goal of this product is to improve the appearance of thinning hair. Shampoos tend to do this by strengthening the fibre of you hair and energising your hair follicles. This product has a nice cooling feeling on the scalp and smells lovely! It didn’t make my hair look visibly thicker, but it’s naturally thick enough so that doesn’t surprise me. It does work to really cleanse the hair, which for someone who uses hair product each day, is definitely a benefit!

Redken Cerfill Defy Conditioner

This works hand-in-hand with the shampoo. It helps to thicken your hair and adds shine. It’s a nice conditioner and left my hair feeling soft. As mentioned previously, my hairs thick enough so I don’t tend to see a massive difference. However I’m sure if you had thinning hair, this would be great.

Scaramouche & Fandango Men’s Body Wash

I’ve used a face scrub from this brand that I got in my January Grooming Box, so I was definitely excited to use this wash. It’s got vitamin E in, which is known for its skincare benefits. As well as papaya extract which gives you a gentle exfoliation. This product lathers up really well and did leave a nice smell on my skin afterwards. It’s also really reasonably priced individually! All in all, winner!

Kent Brushes A20T Men’s Folding Comb

Not gonna lie, I always tend to go for the cheapest comb I can find. All I end up doing is melting it with a hair dryer anyway. It was refreshing to have a comb that is actually sturdy! It folds in half, which means I’ll definitely be taking it travelling with me. I wont end up with bent or broken comb teeth, which is great! You can’t actually buy this individually though, unless you head over to Amazon.

Mankind March Grooming BoxThere you have it, my thoughts on the March Mankind Grooming Box! All in all, it’s a decent box and really good value for money! As I always love at least 50% of what I get, I’d still buy the box as the other half work really well as gifts! As mentioned, it’s only available while stocks last, if you want this you’ll need to buy it soon.

Until next time,
