I’ve always been a fan of salt scrubs. Having naturally dry skin, I try and use one once or twice a week to get rid of dead skin. Grim, right?

Glamour Grit is an oil-free salt scrub that gently exfoliates the skin to reveal softer, smoother skin. It’s enriched with Vitamin E, Green Tea and Sea Kelp. All of which are known for their skin care benefits. One thing I’ve always hated about scrubs is how messy they are. Luckily with this one being oil-free and salt based, the clean up is easy! It also has a lovely grapefruit smell that is really refreshing and invigorating.

I’ve had a Mankind Grooming Box before and loved every single item! I was excited to get my hands on the Limited Edition March Grooming Box and was just as excited to try out all the products inside! It’s only available for March, so head over and get hold of one while you can!

I have naturally curly and coarse hair so I’m always very specific with the kinds of products I use. When I noticed 3 of the 6 products were hair related, I was intrigued to know how I was going to find them! I’ve tried them all out and I’ll break down my thoughts.

MONU for Men Fresh Wash

First and foremost, I love the smell! I could definitely smell the Ginseng and it made my face feel lovely and fresh. I also really enjoy products with papaya enzymes in as it naturally works to exfoliate the skin without the abrasiveness of a scrub. One thing I wasn’t so keen on is that this product appeared to have glitter in! It was only a really tiny amount and I understand it’s probably there to make your skin glow, but still, I wasn’t keen on that. If it weren’t for the glitter, I would have repurchased this product again.

I didn’t know what to make of this product. I was expecting a gel, but then it’s a cream that when worked into the hands, liquefies! Strange, right? This product aims to add volume and body to your hair without leaving your hair feeling sticky. It definitely does what it says on the tin. With my hair being naturally curly, it has enough volume naturally. I tend to go for products to tame my hair, not to give it that added ‘oompf’. If you wanted a product to give you a bit of lift, this would be the one for you. Personally, it made my hair bigger than I’d usually go for, but if that’s the look you’re going for, go buy this product!

Redken Cerafill Defy Shampoo

The main goal of this product is to improve the appearance of thinning hair. Shampoos tend to do this by strengthening the fibre of you hair and energising your hair follicles. This product has a nice cooling feeling on the scalp and smells lovely! It didn’t make my hair look visibly thicker, but it’s naturally thick enough so that doesn’t surprise me. It does work to really cleanse the hair, which for someone who uses hair product each day, is definitely a benefit!

Redken Cerfill Defy Conditioner

This works hand-in-hand with the shampoo. It helps to thicken your hair and adds shine. It’s a nice conditioner and left my hair feeling soft. As mentioned previously, my hairs thick enough so I don’t tend to see a massive difference. However I’m sure if you had thinning hair, this would be great.

Scaramouche & Fandango Men’s Body Wash

I’ve used a face scrub from this brand that I got in my January Grooming Box, so I was definitely excited to use this wash. It’s got vitamin E in, which is known for its skincare benefits. As well as papaya extract which gives you a gentle exfoliation. This product lathers up really well and did leave a nice smell on my skin afterwards. It’s also really reasonably priced individually! All in all, winner!

Kent Brushes A20T Men’s Folding Comb

Not gonna lie, I always tend to go for the cheapest comb I can find. All I end up doing is melting it with a hair dryer anyway. It was refreshing to have a comb that is actually sturdy! It folds in half, which means I’ll definitely be taking it travelling with me. I wont end up with bent or broken comb teeth, which is great! You can’t actually buy this individually though, unless you head over to Amazon.

Mankind March Grooming BoxThere you have it, my thoughts on the March Mankind Grooming Box! All in all, it’s a decent box and really good value for money! As I always love at least 50% of what I get, I’d still buy the box as the other half work really well as gifts! As mentioned, it’s only available while stocks last, if you want this you’ll need to buy it soon.

Until next time,

It’s always good to have a DIY facemask recipe in your repertoire for those nights in when you don’t have another one available. It’s also really good to know exactly what is going into your skincare!

You can make this mask with ingredients you probably already have in your cupboard. All you need is three main ingredients; banana, oats and honey. I know that it sounds strange to put porridge ingredients on your skin, but trust me, it works!

The oats are packed full with amino acids, which have antioxidant properties and repair damaged skin. Honey is a natural antibacterial, which will help to relieve tired and inflamed skin. Banana is naturally a good source of vitamins A and E, which help to protect you skin against environmental pollution.

I decided to add a Pack’d Defence Superfood Mix to this facemask to give it an extra boost. This mix contains flax seed, pumpkin seed, sunflower seed and baobab. Flax helps to reduce the appearance of inflammation and redness, pumpkin seed helps to brighten, sunflower seed helps to prevent the signs of ageing and baobab helps to improve the elasticity of the skin. All in all, why wouldn’t you want to add this to a DIY facemask?

You can pick up a Pack’d Superfood packet inside the Pack’d smoothie kits, which are available in most Sainsbury’s stores.

What I love about this mask is that it is basically a two-in-one treatment. It exfoliates your skin, and then soothes it! When you put the mask on, you rub it into your skin and the oats help to exfoliate the dead skin cells from your face. Once you’ve scrubbed gently, you leave the mask on for up to an hour to let the honey and banana do it’s magic!

To make 2 masks all you need is:

  • 1/2 a banana
  • 1 teaspoon of raw honey
  • 2 tablespoons of oats
  • 1 Pack’d Defence Superfood Mix (optional, but worth it!)

All you need to do is add everything into a bowl and mash it together! That’s literally it! When you apply it to your skin, massage it in for a bit before leaving it on for 30 minutes to 1 hour. I’d advise doing the first part over a sink because otherwise it gets messy!

That’s it! You now have a recipe for a homemade facemask that has plenty of properties that will help your skin! Let me know in the comments below if you have made this mask or if you have any other DIY recipes to share!

Until next time,

I’ve recently found mankind.co.uk and I was instantly in love! Within 10 minutes of browsing I was drawn to the Limited Edition January Grooming Box, which offers £75 worth of male grooming products for only £25! It comes with a selection of face, hair and body products and would make a perfect gift for him!

I’ve tried all the products now and I’ll go in a bit more detail below.

L’Oréal Professionnel Shampoo

I like this shampoo. It has a nice lather and smells good! I didn’t notice anything special about it but it’s a good basic! My hair did feel really clean afterwards, which considering the amount of hair product I had in beforehand, is definitely a good thing!

Scaramouche & Fandango Men’s Face Scrub

Honestly, I wasn’t massively impressed with this! I found the exfoliating beads to be a bit sparse and due to this, it wasn’t abrasive enough. Coming from someone who has sensitive skin, you know that’s not good. It’s decent for the price though and it’s small enough to take travelling. If I was to use this again, I’d use it on a daily basis and as more of a face wash with additional exfoliating properties.

Foreo Cleanser

I’ve been using my trusted Kiehl’s cleanser for years now, so I was a bit sceptical to try something new. This product is actually really good! I have dry and sensitive skin so always tend to stay away from male specific grooming products, as they tend to be too astringent for my skin. This isn’t the case with the Foreo Cleanser. It’s an inky blue colour and has a slight lather too it. I find it leaves my skin feeling really fresh and clean. Plus, it smells lovely! I’ll definitely repurchase this.

Redken for Men Work Hard Paste

I had high hopes for this product. I’m always on the lookout for a good hair product that has strong hold, isn’t shiny but doesn’t leave my hair looking dry. First impressions of this, I wasn’t keen. I’m not too sure whether I put too much on or what, but it left my hair feeling dry and looking dull! I gave it the benefit of the doubt and used it as a pre-styler. I put it in damp hair and dried it. I definitely like how it left my hair looking this way. Everyone’s hair will react differently, but definitely give it a go. Just for reference, I have coarse, curly hair!

Men-U Shave Cream

I’ll admit something here – I don’t use shaving cream usually! I’ve gotten into the habit of using my foaming gel cleanser as I find most shaving creams dry my skin out. This one didn’t! It left my skin feeling smooth and the razor went across my skin with ease. It definitely protected me against razor burn and this was one of the best shaves I’ve had in a long time! Definitely would recommend.

Daily Vitamins Multi Vitamins

I don’t really have much to say on these. Vitamins are vitamins, right? I’m running out of my current multi vitamins, so I’ll use these once they’re done. It was a nice little extra to the pack though.

Protein Chox Bar – Cookies and Cream

I can’t say I’ve had a lot of protein bars to compare this too, so apologies if this isn’t as informative as you’d like. It tasted good though, was rich, creamy and sweet!

So there you have it, my review on the Mankind Grooming Box! I would definitely purchase this again! All the products are full size so this box is definitely great value for money. It’s a shame they don’t do it every month, as I’d definitely subscribe to this! The delivery was really quick! I ordered on Saturday and it was here by Monday. It’s still available now so with Valentine’s Day around the corner it would be a great gift!

Until next time,

In the colder months, my skin always dries out completely. I find that I end up having dry, flaky skin around my nose, eyes and mouth. It’s not pretty.

I have to bump up my skincare routine to combat this. I end up using more serums and masks to keep my skin as replenished as possible.

Lately I’ve been using The Body Shop Drops of Youth line, mainly the Bouncy Sleeping Mask and the Eye Concentrate. They’re primarily to help with aging skin, but I feel as though any product designed to reduce the signs of aging has to be good, right? After all, there’s no harm in having younger looking skin!

Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask

This product is designed to give you bouncier-looking skin. It has an unusual texture; kind of like jelly. You only need a small amount and it comes with a little spatula to easily scoop it up. When you first apply it it’s sticky, however it soaks into the skin in a couple of minutes and feels great! It also feels really refreshing and cooling. This product is meant to be applied just before bed and left on overnight. If you have a beard like me, I’d avoid the area as it leaves my beard with a weird powdery feeling.

I find that the following morning my skin feels great! My moisturiser soaks in better and my skin is practically flake free all day! Winner!

Drops of Youth Eye Concentrate

I’ll be completely honest; an eye product are always the first thing I skip in my skincare routine. I’ve been using this roll-on for the past month now and I feel like I’ll definitely invest in this again. It has the same cooling sensation as the sleeping mask, which feels lovely first thing in the morning! I use a tiny amount, not even a full pump. I’d definitely recommend this if you are looking for a straightforward eye cream to help with all different skin concerns. It helps to reduce the appearance of bags, lines and fatigue.

Products from the Drops of Youth line are enriched with Edelweiss plant stem cells. Edelweiss is a plant that grows in the mountains and overtime has developed many natural defenses in order to survive the harsh conditions. It has powerful anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which I feel is essential in skincare.

Furthermore, I really rate this line. The textures of these products are definitely different, but once you get over that; you’ll learn to love them. They’re not the most impressive of products I’ve tried, but they’re reasonably priced and would be a great addition to a skincare routine.

Until next time,
