One thing I love the most about summer is the longer nights and brighter mornings. One thing I don’t like about summer is the longer nights and brighter mornings also. That doesn’t make sense, right? Let me explain!

I love being woken up by the sun and also having late night strolls when the sun is setting. The reason why I also dislike this is because it means my sleeping pattern goes out the window! I end up waking earlier and falling asleep later. Naturally, this means my skin gets a bit tired and dull, so it’s always good to crack out the products that help to brighten it!

Janjira is a Thai skincare company with products that are built around the bathing rituals of ancient Thai royalty. All products are made with naturally active ingredients that are proven to have skincare benefits. I’ve been trying some of the Marine Radiant White range for the past month, which helps to lighten and illuminate the skin. I must say, I’ve been impressed with the range!

I’m a fan of this serum! It helps to hydrate and brighten the skin and for someone with dry skin like me, that’s a must have. The serum is also enriched with Vitamin C, which helps to protect the skin, as well as having anti-aging properties. Winner all round, I’d say! The product doesn’t really have a scent, but I’m not mad about that. I find anything too perfumed just irritates my skin, and I’m not about that life. I would definitely recommend this product to someone looking for a new serum to add to their routine!

If you’ve followed my blog for a while, you’ll know a toner is the first item I skip from my daily routine! However, I think I may be a convert after trying this one. It felt so refreshing on the skin and because it’s oil-free, I wasn’t left feeling greasy. I always keep an eye out for any product with Sodium Hyaluronate in as it helps to reduce flakiness and gives your skins moisture content a little boost. Positive thoughts all around with this product.

This product sits lovely on the skin. It’s not too heavy, but packs a punch! My skin was left feeling smooth and moisturised. A benefit of this cream is that it actually has UVA and UBV protection in. I don’t protect my skin as much as I should, so it’s great to have it built into such a lightweight product. It also has Vitamin B3 in, which helps to protect against pollution and other irritants as well as managing the skins inflammatory response. That benefit is great for someone whose skin is redness prone, like me.

Overall, I’m impressed with this range from Janjira. I’ve never tried anything before, but I’m glad I did! It’s on the more luxury end of the skincare spectrum, but definitely worth the investment. If you’re looking to revamp your routine, definitely check them out!

If you’ve read any of my previous posts on my hair, you’ll know that it’s thick and curly. Usually volumising and thickening shampoos are something I’d steer clear of. However in the summer months I tend to keep my hair curly more often, which means volumising and thickening shampoos become my best friend!

For the past month I’ve been trying out a number of shampoos that aid in giving your hair that extra ‘oompf’ and added lift. I’ve tried out a selection of brands and will let you know my thoughts.

Korres Shampoo for Thin Hair

I’ve heard of Korres before and have been meaning to try it out for a while. This shampoo has a clean scent that isn’t too overpowering and didn’t leave my hair feeling frizzy or weighed down. It helps to rejuvenate scalp cells and give your hair more texture and volume. My hair felt clean, without feeling dry. It also gave me a nice amount of volume, whilst keeping my hair frizz-free! Big thumbs up from me, Korres!

Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat Invigorating Shampoo

Following closely behind the Korres Shampoo is this one from Giovanni. Am I the only one that loves a shampoo that tingles?  This tea tree shampoo is suitable for all hair types and has a lovely cooling feel. It’s got peppermint in which helps to invigorate the scalp and makes me feel awake! Product build-up was easily removed and my hair felt super clean! The tea tree and peppermint helps to invigorate and wake me up when I use this in the morning. Winning!

Klorane Shampoo with Citrus Pulp

The thing that stood out the most about this shampoo from Klorane is that it is gentle enough for frequent use! For someone like me, who washes their hair everyday, this is a bonus. I know, I shouldn’t do it, but I can’t stand product build-up. I loved the citrus smell of this shampoo, scent wise it’s probably my favourite.  So if you’re looking for an all-around good shampoo, with a pleasant scent, this ones for you.

Sachajuan Ocean Mist Volume Shampoo

I wasn’t as impressed with this product as the previous three. It didn’t really do anything special and actually made my hair feel slightly dry. I use heat styling tools on my hair every day, so it’s dry as it is, never mind having a shampoo strip my hair. This one wasn’t for me and to be honest, I probably wouldn’t recommend spending money on it. If you hair was on the oiler side, I’m sure this product would be good!

Phyto Strengthening Treatment Shampoo

Out of all these products, Phyto is the brand I’m most familiar with. Up until now, I’d never used it before, but I’m slightly disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, my hair felt thick and conditioned, but I didn’t like the smell at all! It was almost medicinal and reminded me of medicated shampoo. If I was to pair this with a strong scented conditioner, I don’t think I’d have as much of a problem.

There you have it, my thoughts on 5 shampoos! A bit of a different post from me, but I’m happy I got to try them all out! I would definitely recommend Korres to anyone looking at investing in some new shampoo, it’s reasonably priced and you can get it over at!

Thanks to Harley Street Hair Clinic for sending me this lovely haircare hamper to try out, I’ve definitely found some new favourites and hope you’ll explore more too! Check them out on Twitter: @HSHairClinic.

Sometimes skincare is too complicated, don’t you agree? Everyone doesn’t understand the benefits of a complex list of ingredients, and why should you need to? At the end of the day you want your skincare to be as easy and accessible as possible. You shouldn’t have to have a Pharmacy Degree to know what every lotion and potion does.

Scaramouche & Fandango have been kind enough to send me a couple of products to try out. I’ve used the brand in the past; I was first introduced to them in my ManKind Grooming Box. Their aim is to put the simplicity back into male grooming. Sometimes you just want a product to work, without the fuss of working out whether the PH level of your skin matches the chemical formula of the product. I’ve been using them for the past month now and have found some favourites I’m definitely going to be repurchasing.

The main thing I want from a shampoo is a good lather. I know that this can actually be drying on your hair, so it’s always a difficult compromise. The Scaramouch & Fandango Shampoo lathers well and actually doesn’t dry my hair out! It smells clean and it’s got a subtle smell. I do wish the smell was a bit stronger, but we can’t have everything. It’s straightforward, no fuss and does what you’d expect!

Now in true lazy Shaun fashion, I want a conditioner that doesn’t necessarily have to be left on for 5 minutes to do any good. This one definitely caters to that laziness. I put it in, wait a minute, and wash it out. Simple! My hair is left feeling smooth, but not too soft that I can’t style it. It’s difficult to find a good conditioner that doesn’t leave my heavy and flat, however this one does the job!

Body Wash

As you may know from previous posts, lil’ ol’ me has sensitive skin. I’m actually allergic to most soap so have to be careful with shower gels. This one has a masculine smell, it’s light and doesn’t foam too much. It’s actually really nice! Additional bonus as it didn’t leave my skin pink and irritated. I will definitely be buying this again.

 Face Scrub

This scrub is gentle. Probably too gentle for me. I think the main purpose is to use it daily, so it’s not really that abrasive. If you wanted a scrub that you could use consistently, this would be the one for you. I wish it was slightly grittier, but all in all, it’s a decent scrub. You wouldn’t need to worry about making your skin worse with this scrub, you just need to grab and go.

Shave Cream

Now this was a tough one for me to try. I recently discovered the MenU Shave Cream and fell in love with it. I’ve never had a product that gave me a close shave, without irritating my skin. I was pleasantly surprised with the Scaramouche & Fandango Shave Cream. It lathers up well and protected my skin from my razor. It hasn’t convinced me enough to change my regular, but once I run out I’ll definitely be using this.

You’re probably bored of me rambling on about my dry skin, but I can hardly ever find a reasonably priced cream that does the job. I’m sad to say this didn’t live up to expectations. Don’t get me wrong, it feels and smells lovely. It just wasn’t hydrating enough for my skin. If you’re the everyday man, with normal/oily skin, I imagine this cream would be great for you. I do want to note my skin is eczema prone though, so hardly anything works for me.

All in all, Scaramouche & Fandango is a winner for me!

The products do the job, all smell lovely and look great. I love that all the packaging matches and is very simple and clean. The products are really reasonably priced which means if you’re looking to invest in a whole new range, this wouldn’t put you out of pocket. There’s also no need for frills, every product is labelled simply and it’s easy to know what everything does.

I’m a victim of dry skin! It’s difficult for me to go by my daily life without ending the day looking like a lizard. Okay, that’s a bit dramatic, but you catch my drift.

Avaj have been nice enough to send me some products tailored toward dry skin. I’m always on the lookout for body creams to help with my dryness, I find that it’s one of the most difficult things to come across. Most brands main priorities are on face care and body care tends to come as an add-on.

I was sent four products to review. The Opulent Jet Body Butter, the Spray Mist Sandalwood Body Moistursier, the Strawberry Lip Shine and the Peppercorn Exfoliating Face Scrub. I’ve been using these products for the past month now and I’m seriously impressed. They come nicely packaged and feel really luxurious. The packaging is metal with simplistic branding. In my opinion, it’s some of the nicest packaging I’ve come across. It feels really expensive. We deserve a treat, right guys?

The Opulent Jet Body Butter is a thick body butter that has proven results for helping dryness. It protects the skin against drying, accelerates healing and nourishes. I was really keen to try this as I’d actually heard good things on social media about it. I always tend to get dry skin on the tops of my arms and couldn’t wait to give this a go. It’s creamy and feels lovely on the skin. I wouldn’t use it all over my body because it’s a bit thick, but I put it on my problem areas and it’s instantly soft and smooth! It also has a lovely smell, masculine and not too overpowering. I’m definitely going to repurchase this again, it has done wonders for my skin.

The Spray Mist Sandalwood Body Moisturiser is something else I was really keen to try. Moisturising my body is a massive chore, so anything that makes it easier is a winner. Plus, I love the smell of sandalwood so this product instantly got off to a good start. It’s a lot lighter than the body butter and the smell is a lot more fragrant, which I’m not mad about! It glides onto the skin easily and leaves my skin smelling and feeling great. I tend to use this in the areas where I don’t use Opulent Jet as it’s a bit lighter and absorbs into the skin quicker. Pairing both products together has been a winning combination for me.

The Peppercorn Exfoliating Face Scrub helps to remove dead skin, oil and dirt from your skin. It’s a cream based gentle scrub and is not too abrasive. For someone with sensitive skin this is a plus point. It has Sweet Almond Oil in which is known in skincare for its moisturising properties. It did help to remove the dry skin from my face, especially around my nose.

The Strawberry Lip Shine is a nice, simple lip balm. It’s petroleum based so has a similar feeling to Vaseline, but with a subtle strawberry scent. Pretty straight forward, but does the job well!

Overall, I’m really impressed with Avaj. They’re a Yorkshire based brand and you can actually tell they care about their customers. Alongside skincare, Avaj retail underwear and accessories. I’d definitely check them out if you’re interested in skincare tailored toward men. You also get a couple of cheeky chocolates thrown in with your order. #Winning

Avaj Grooming is reasonably priced and really high quality. Check out Avaj here.

I always like to have a selection of fragrances on hand. I like to have a couple that fit with multiple occasions and multiple moods, does anyone else do the same?

At the minute, all of the fragrances I have tend to have a fresh clean smell. I’ve been on the hunt for something that was a bit more ‘manly’ and a little less ‘clean’.

Gruhme is a British brand that launched in 2013. It was created with the modern day male in mind, designed to be worn all day, every day. At first smell, this fragrance packs a bit of a punch! It’s quite strong, which is due to it have 14% fragrance. If you put on too much, it can be a bit over-whelming. I found that I only needed a couple of sprays, which means this would last a lot longer than any other fragrance I have.

Gruhme has a lovely blend of woody and citrusy smells including amber, bergamot and lemon.  It’s definitely a fragrance that has a distinct scent and I genuinely can’t compare it to anything I’ve smelt on the market. It’s masculine and elegant, but also quite fresh and clean.

All in all, Gruhme gets a thumbs up from me! I’d find this is a bit too intense for me to wear to work but I would definitely wear this for a nighttime event! When I’m getting a bit fancy, y’know what I mean? I typically go for light fragrances that don’t really have a punch, but if you’re looking for a fragrance that makes heads turn, this is the one for you!

You can buy Gruhme here.

What’s your favourite type of fragrance?
