We all like to look our best, but like anything in life doing so doesn’t come without any effort. In fact, to keep your appearance in tip-top condition is crucial that we up our male grooming game. Luckily, you can find out exactly how to do this in my post below. Read on for more.
Nails & hands
What is the first thing that you greet people with? A handshake, of course, and that means the state of your hands and nails will be noticed by others. That is why you need to keep up with cutting them, something that you can get a range of doodads to help you with.
Nail care doesn’t have to stop there though, because having soft and supple hands is, contrary to long-held tradition, a good thing for men. After all, they are not only healthier but show the world that you take good care of yourself as well. Something that every self-respecting man needs to do these days.
To that end, using a hand cream or even a barrier cream when you are doing heavy work can be a smart idea. You may also want to opt for a professional manicure if you like. The best bit of which is when they buff your natural nails, so they look as healthy and shiny as possible!

They say a woman’s hair is her crowning glory, but our locks are pretty essential to us guys as well. Of course, there are a lot of things that you need to get right and all working in conjunction with one another to have fantastic hair, day in and day out.
The first thing you need to get sorted is the cut that you have. Fades are particularly popular at the moment, and we are even seeing a move away from the very harsh cuts to ones with less of a clear transition and more of a natural top.
Additionally, once you have a style you love you do need to invest in the right shampoos and products to keep it looking its best and in place. When it comes to shampoo, remember that less is often more and if you can reduce the amount of time you wash your hair a week, as this will replenish the natural oils. Conditioner is a must too, for every time you wash your hair, not just as an occasional treat, as this will help to make your look much more manageable.
Product wise, it’s crucial that you find the right ones for not only your hairstyle but your hair type as well. After all, very fine hair will be too easily weighed down by waxes, and it can lead your locks to look greasy or less full than they actually are.
Additionally, if you are struggling on the full head of hair front, which many men of various ages do, it may be helpful to consider a hair transplant to rectify this. Luckily, such produces have a high success rate and are easy to organise now.
Beards & Shaving
Once you have your hair grooming sorted you will need to pay attention to your beard, or the removal of it. Of course, whether you decide to grow a beard is entirely up to you, and while they have been very fashionable for the last few years, many people still prefer a clean-shaven look.
However, whether you decide to grow a beard or not, you will still have grooming tasks that need to be performed around your chin. For those with beards, ensuring that it is washed and trimmed regularly is very important. Although there are now trimmer designed especially for beard use which will allow you to control the length to within a half a centimetre growth! Something that means even when you are sporting a beard, you can make sure that it looks as well manicured as possible.

If you want to go with a clean shave, however, you will have some more intense work to do. Yes, you can also use an electric razor if you like, but it is usually much more effective to have a wet shave instead. Do remember to steam your face beforehand though to open up the follicle, and shave with the direction of the hair, as this will provide a much more comfortable experience.
Do you smell? I hope you do, smell good that is! In fact, choosing the right scent be is an essential part of being a well-groomed male. After all, as smell is one of the most reliable memory prompters, there is, having a signature scent can help you not only be more appealing in the moment but also get people to associate you with that smell as well.
The key to finding the right scent for you is to try as many as possible. Don’t make a decision straight away, however, as it is much better if you apply them to the skin and let the scent warm up first, then you will get a much more accurate reading of what it is like. Avoid rubbing your wrists together though, as this can heat it up too quickly and thus distort the scent.
Additionally, for us guys, the temptation to be a little heavy-handed with our man-smell can be intense. I think it is a residual habit from using things like Lynx as we are growing up. However, while it’s important to smell good, less is invariable more when it comes to scent. In fact, if you are spraying it all over your clothes, chest, and anywhere you can find you are probably overdoing it and that will be working against the image of a well-groomed man you are trying to achieve.
Finally, do not, whatever you do forget the skin on your face! After all, it will be with you for life, whether it is in good condition or not. With that in mind, it is well worth moisturising every day, especially around the eyes. Oh, and please, please use sunscreen if you want to remain looking as well groomed as you do now, in the coming years.
