Whenever I hear a celebrity has launched a fragrance, I secretly let out a little sigh. But for some reason, when I heard about the new Dermot O’Leary Earl Grey and Sandalwood, I let out a sigh of relief.

Just from the name of it, I knew I’d love it. I’ve previously owned the Jo Malone Earl Grey and Cucumber, and had a number of fragrances that include notes of Sandalwood, so I knew this was a match made in heaven.

It’s a light, fresh scent that is perfect for summer. Earl grey and bergamot open up the fragrance to give it some top notes that are crisp and citrusy. This is then followed with base notes of sandalwood and cardamom to ground the fragrance and give it a warmer tone.

The scent itself isn’t obnoxious. It’s honestly just a clean, inoffensive fragrance that I’m sure every guy will adore. For me it’s going to become my summer daytime scent. It’s probably a bit too light for the night, but it’s perfect for through the day.

It reminds me of a fragrance I’d expect Dior to create, so when you pair this with it’s £22 price point, it’s a no-brainer. Especially when you get 100ml for this price.

After giving this scent a go, it’s truly opened my eyes and makes me want to try his other scents. Dermot has already released two scents with M&S, so I’ve got a bit of catching up to do, but I’m sure they’ll be worth it. There’s even a grooming range which I really need to give a go. Check out the full Dermot O’Leary on M&S here.

The Mankind Grooming Box is back! And this time, it’s in the form of the Explorer Edit. Is it the best one yet? See what I think below.

For those of you who don’t know, the Mankind Grooming Box is a collection of skincare, haircare and bodycare products. It’s not a subscription, but is released at different times throughout the year. The box typically comes with around 5-7 full size products, for a really affordable price.

One thing I love about the box is that you get to discover new products, and because they’re full size, you actually get to properly try them out.

What’s in the Explorer Edit?

Elemis Deep Cleanse Facial Wash (150ml)

We all know that Elemis is a winning brand! Every product I’ve tried from them, I adore. I even used a selection of their products when I went away last year. The Elemis Deep Cleanse Facial Wash doesn’t dissapoint, it’s enriched with peppermint, which makes it incredibly refreshing. You’d expect a deep cleansing face wash to strip your skin, but this one doesn’t. I’m currently finishing off a face wash from Clarins, but once that’s done, I’ll be switching it out for this one.

Omorovicza Refining Facial Polisher (100ml)

I absolutely love Omorovicza, so much so, I already have this product in my skincare collection. The Refining Facial Polisher is like a gentle microdermabrasion at home. It’s a bit of an intense exfoliator, so it’s only suitable for use twice a week, but I love it. Whenever I use it, my skin feels incredibly smooth, I even feel like I could go without moisturising! I couldn’t be happier to have another one of these, because I’ve been trying to make my current one last as long as possible. Would recommend the Mankind Grooming Box for this product alone, as it retails for over £60!

Regenerate Enamel Science Toothpaste (75ml)

Once again, another product I already own! Regenerate have a cult following across the world, and once you try it, you’ll know why. It has a scientific formula that actually helps to rebuild enamel, and it actually works. Not only that, but I feel like my teeth get whiter the more I use it. I do wish it had a stronger mint taste, but that’s personal preference. It’s still an amazing toothpaste!

Men-Ü D-Tox Clay Face Mask (100ml)

Guess what? I already own this product too! The Men-Ü D-Tox Clay Face Mask is a simple, yet effective, clay mask. It’s pretty affordable, and is nice to use. It’s not my favourite product, and I prefer the Omorovicza Moor Mud Mask. But if you’re on a budget and want a face mask to remove impurities, this is the one for you.

Anthony Skincare Shave Cream (90ml)

I’ve not tried this product yet, because I’ve been trialling a couple of other shave creams. But if my previous experiences with Anthony Skincare are anything to go by, it won’t dissapoint. I love their glycolic face wash and wipes, so I’m excited to give this a go.

Korres Santorini Vine Shower Gel (250ml)

I love the scent of this shower gel. Korres never dissapoint when it comes to creating bodycare products that smell incredible. But unfortunately, my skin reacts to most of their products! Whenever I use the shower gels or body cream, my skin goes a bit red and feels irritated. I can get away with using their actual fragrances though, so that’s always a winner!

Besides the Korres Shower Gel, I’ll be using every product from this Mankind Grooming Box. It’s available for £40 with a value over £100, so it’s a pretty great deal.

They don’t tend to be available for long, so get yours here now while stocks last!

I was given this product to review, however all opinions are 100% honest and my own.

We’re all on a mission for flawless skin. Well, at least I am. As a sufferer of eczema for most of my life, my skin is probably something I’m the most self conscious about. I’ll typically turn to skincare on a daily basis to prevent my skin kicking off, but on days when it doesn’t want to behave, concealers are my best friend.

You probably already know what a concealer is, but I’m sure you’re probably thinking, “Shaun, what even is colour-correcting concealer?” Wonder no more – I’m here to tell you.

What is a colour-correcting concealer?

A colour-correcting concealer is a product used to balance out tonal colours on your skin. It works by adding a shade that cancels out a certain colour over the problem area. Where products are concered, there are typically 5 colours that people tend to use. Green, blue, yellow, pink and peach. Each one has a specific part to play, and if you don’t do it correctly, you could end up looking a bit like a clown. Trust me, it happened to me.

What do you use each colour for?

Green

Green is used to balance out and cover any redness.

lilac

Lilac

Lilac is used to cancel out any yellow tones.

yellowYellow

Yellow is used to cover up purple toned shadows on olive skin.

pale pink

Pink

Pink is used to balance out blue toned areas on fair skin.

peach

Peach

Peach is used to cancel out dark spots on medium toned skin.

How do you actually use colour-correcting concealers?

It’s actually pretty straight forward, but I have no doubt there’ll be some trial and error involved. I’ve broken it down into 5 easy steps.

  1. Identify the area you want to correct.
  2. Pick the correct shade based on the information above.
  3. Apply the colour-correcting concealer to your skin using your fingertips. The warmth helps it blend in better
  4. Cover the colour with your usual concealer, patting it in as normal.
  5. Check your skin in natural light to make sure areas aren’t too light or too dark.

It’s really that simple! Once you’ve actually found the areas and colours that work for your skin, I’d actually advise putting the colour-correcting concealer over your usual skin concealer. You end up using less and it blends in easier.

If I’m concealing a spot, I’ll use the green. When I’m a bit tired and want to hide my under eye bags, I’ll use yellow. If my skin tone looks uneven, I’ll use a bit of purple.

I’ve been using a colour-correcting concealer palette from MMUK MAN. It has all the colours in, which means I could try different ones and find the right shades for my problem areas.

Can you believe I’ve actually known of ZIRH Skincare for years, yet I’ve never tried it? I really don’t know what’s taken me so long, but I’ve finally got round to trying some products.

ZIRH began in 1995 with the aim to become a premium grooming brand with daily essentials all men would want. The collection has grown over the years, and ZIRH have developed a cult following across the globe. Each formula is effective and carefully crafted to include the best ingredients to combat individual concerns.

ZIRH Clean Alpha-Hydroxy Face Wash

As I’ve said before, the first step to any successful skincare routine is a great face wash. ZIRH Clean is suitable for all skin types, but recommended for people with normal to dry skin. When I first used this product, it actually reminded me of Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser – which is a long time favourite of mine! It has a similar scent, foams in a similar way, and leaves my skin feeling equally as soft. That comparison alone makes this cleanser a winner in my books. If you’ve read my blogs before, you’ll know Kiehl’s is my ultimate brand, and ZIRH Clean is definitely holding it’s own.

Give it a try and let me know what you think. You can get it here for £15.

ZIRH Protect Environmental Defense Moisturiser

I’m incredibly picky when it comes to a face moisturiser, so I’m always overly critical. ZIRH protect is good for normal to oily skin, due to it’s light texture. It’s a lotion rather than a cream, and a little goes a long way. It’s packed full of all the right ingredients, but unfortunately, it’s not for me. I’ve got dry skin and this moisturiser is too light compared to what I’d normally go for. I found that I had to apply a hydrating mist throughout the day to keep my face refreshed, which happens with most moisturisers I try. I can imagine it’ll be a great addition to a routine targeted toward oily skin, but it’s not for me. It might be perfect for my boyfriend though, so I’ll be giving it to him to try.

If you want to try it for yourself, you get ZIRH Protect from MaleSkin for £32.50.

ZIRH Restore Herbal Under Eye Cream

As with moisturisers, I’m really picky when it comes to eye creams too. The skin around my eyes is really sensitive, so I tend to stick to what I know. Luckily, the ZIRH Restore eye cream does the trick. It actually works to strengthen the thin skin around the eye, which is perfect for me! When I read that Calendula and Cucumber are some key ingredients, I was sold. But when I tried it, I was pleasently surprised. It’s light, yet hydrating and doesn’t leave my eyes feeling greasy.

It’s available on MaleSkin for £28. Give it a try for yourself!

All in all, I’m impressed with the range. I know I said that the moisturiser isn’t for me, but I find it really difficult to find a face cream that makes the cut. Both the cleanser and the eye cream are winners in their own right, and they make me want to try even more from the range.

A massive thank you to the lovely team at MaleSkin for sending me some of ZIRH’s bestsellers to try. If you want to try them for yourself, make sure you head over to their site and check out their selection.

I was sent products in this post to review, however all opinions are my own.

Every year we celebrate Father’s Day. Which means every year, we have the same struggle of trying to find out Dad’s another gift.

It’s not about the most expensive, or the most fancy gift. I find what my Dad appreciates the most is the gift that actually means something to him. Something I know he’ll like, appreciate or get use out of.

With that in mind, I’ve pulled together what I believe to be the ultimate Father’s Day Gift Guide. It features a selection of products, and hopefully it’ll give you some inspiration!

For the well-groomed Dad…

My Dad is always asking for a new razor – I think he shaves pretty much every week. Wilkinson Sword have an amazing selection of razors that range in price, making it the perfect gift for any Dad that looks after his facial hair. They’re all high quality, help achieve a really close shave, and I can guarantee your Dad will appreciate it.

You can buy the Wilkinson Sword Hydro 5 Groomer for £7.98 from Superdrug.

For every Dad…

Everyone can appreciate the gift of a good scent. Thankfully, Dermot O’Leary has a range of fragrances available at M&S that are classic, fresh and light enough for daily use. I love the smell of the new Earl Grey & Sandalwood, so if you buy this as a gift for your Dad, make sure you don’t end up stealing it for yourself.

The Dermot O’Leary Earl Grey & Sandalwood is £22 from M&S.

For the Dad who likes his baths…

My Dad is a builder, and after a long day he always jumps in a bath. I reckon he does it to get some peace, but it could also be because his job is a bit messy. Give the gift of a Bomb Cosmetics set to him and he’ll definitely appreciate it. Afterall, everyone likes getting shower or bath products!

The Distinguished Gentleman Gift is available from Find Me  Gift for £11.99.

For the sentimental Dad…

You’ll probably agree that not every Dad needs a gift. My Dad is actually incredibly apprecitive of anything we get him, even if it’s just a card. This one from Norma & Dorothy is customisable which means you can put a personal message on it. It takes this simple gift to the next level and really makes it mean something.

You can get this card from Norma & Dorothy for £4.75.

For the techy Dad…

My Dad is always on his phone, his laptop or playing his PS4. If yours is too, why not get him a new phone case? Speck have an incredible new range that are inspired by the colour of the World Cup. They’re high quality, affordable and have simple, inoffensive designs.

The Presidio Grip World Edition iPhone X Case is £29.95 from Speck.

For the lager lover…

My Dad always appreciates a couple bottles of beer, or larger. Why not treat yours to a few if he likes that? Celia are an organic premium lager brand that’s hand crafted in Czech Repblic. They’re a bit different than your typical supermarket brand, which makes this gift a little bit more special.

Celia lager is available on Ocado for £2.29.

For the hard working Dad…

Every Dad will appreciate shower gels. Especially when they’re as luxurious as this selection from Noble Isle. They smell incredible and look equally as great. This is the kind of gift you’ll buy for your Dad, and end up keeping for yourself.

Each Noble Isle Bath & Shower gel is £20 and available here.

For the food loving Dad…

My Dad loves to cook. And he also loves to snack! If your Dad is the same, then this VonShef Cheese Board is the gift for him. It comes with 3 cheese knives and pulls out to become a full circle board. It’s stylish, practical and will also make a great centre piece for any social gathering.

The VonShef Cheese Board is available from Domu for £17.99.

For the Dad who has everything…

Some Dad’s are incredibly difficult to buy for, I know mine can be at times. When that’s the case, you can never go wrong with a pair of socks. This gift from Thortful in actually has socks inside a card, which is just a little bit nicer. They also have a selection of cards that have chocolate inside too – perfect!

Cards from Thortful range in price so check them out here.

For the chocolate loving Dad…

Who doesn’t love chocolate? I know my Dad does. This is a chocolate pizza from the Gourmet Chocolate Pizza Company. It’s been so hard not to eat this while it’s been in my flat before giving it to my Dad. It’s fun, novelty gift that is perfect for any Dad with a sweet tooth.

This chocolate pizza is available from Find Me A Gift for £19.99.

For the Dad who likes his me-time…

Although my Dad is really social, he also loves his space. (Don’t we all?) If yours is the same, why not give him a little face mask from Bandito? They’re affordable, and created specifically for men. I’ve used them before and love them, so it’s definitely worth a shot.

All masks from MasqueBar are available from ASOS and vary in price.

For the Dad who likes his liquor…

My Dad loves whiskey, so a bottle is a gift that always goes down well. If it’s something yours drinks often, it might be worth trying something a bit more premium, like this bottle of The Glenlivet Code. It’s a pricey bottle, so might not be for everyone, but if you want to splash out a bit, it’s worth it.

To find out more about this premium whiskey from The Glenlivet, visit their website.

For the coffee lover…

My Dad loves coffee. Both my parents do to be fair. I bought them a coffee machine for Christmas and they seriously love it. This makes coffee the perfect gift and if your Dad drinks coffee, you can’t go wrong with something from Percol or Dualit. Whether it’s instant, or for a machine, they’ll appreciate it. Both brands are fairtrade too, which is awesome!

You can buy Percol for £2.99 and Dualit Coffee Capsules for £12.

There you have it – the Ultimate Father’s Day Gift Guide! I know my Dad would love every single product I’ve mentioned in here, and hopefully you’ll find some inspiration from my selection.
