If you’re anything like me, you love nothing more than curling up on the sofa and watching a movie after a long day. Especially when you’ve got a candle on the go.

It’s not getting any warmer in England, in fact, it’s getting colder! With that in mind, I’ve been trying a couple of candles out that help create the perfect warming ambiance.

PaddyWax Apothecary Amber & Smoke

Firstly, can we just note how incredible these candles look? I’m a sucker for an apothecary design. This candle has up to 50 hours burn time, and the soy wax blend ensures the fragrance is long lasting. The Amber & Smoke scent is warm, rich and luxurious. It’s quite musky, and almost reminds me of honey and takes me back to times of bonfires. When I lit this candle, the scent instantly filled the room.

Wax Lyrical Nordic Spruce

This woody candle is possibly one of my favourites. It’s crisp, clean and has a fresh pine scent. It reminds me of the scent of Christmas trees, which we all love. For me, the scent is incredibly relaxing so it’s perfect after a long day. I can really smell the bergamot in this, which is a scent I really adore. The candle is inspired by Scandinavia, and let’s face it, there’s nothing wrong with brining a bit of Scandi into your home. For me, the scent didn’t travel that much, so I’d recommend trying this in a small space because it’s seriously stunning.

FatFace Camomile & Apple

This candle from FatFace is probably the cleanest smelling of them all. But for some reason, it reminds me of holidays! What better way to spend your evening relaxing than reminiscing about your last vacation. The scent of camomile is subtle, and when it’s blended with the apple is really does create a delicate scent. It burns for aorund 40 hours, and the scent really does fill a room. It’s designed to soothe and calm, so light this candle, pop on a film, and unwind.

If I had to pick a favourite, it would have to be the PaddyWax Amber & Smoke, but it’s a close one! If you like deep, musky scents, this is the one for you.

Ever since I’ve known Alex Carro existed, I’ve wanted to try out the brand. I’m not even exaggerating. The brand have an amazing aesthetic, approach to skincare, and have had my attention since I first discovered them.

Alex Carro have a capsule skincare collection that is multiuse, mixable and unisex. Each product is designed to work both individually, and in partnership with other formulas from the range. I’m a fan of a huge skincare collection, but after trying out some products from Alex Carro, I might be conviced to turn it all in for their 5 products.

What is Alex Carro?

As I’ve already mentioned, Alex Carro is a skincare brand that have a handful of products, which can be used together to fit your skin. They’re based in Barcelona and the range is designed to be natural, innovative and no fuss. And to top it all off, they’re also cruelty-free!

After years of research and experimentation, this family run business has created a skincare range that is effective and in my opinion, pretty incredible. Having a collection of 5 products that you can mix to suit your own skincare needs is pretty impressive. You can mix the products to fit your own concerns, and tailor the range specifically to you.

I’ve tried a couple of products from the collection and here are my thoughts.

Alex Carro 2/5 Facial Cleanser

I actually love the Alex Carro 2/5 Facial Cleanser. It’s got a clean, minimal scent which instantly appeals to me. The gel texture of the product feels really luxurious on the skin, and is incredibly gentle and calming. My skin felt really refreshed once I’d used it, and it actually felt soft to the touch, which I’ve never experienced from a cleanser before.

You can add the Alex Carro 1/5 Balancing Face Oil to the cleanser to create a calming mask. Or you can also combine it with the 3/5 Exfoliating Powder for a gentle face scrub.

It’s crazy to think that this one product can be used alone, or mixed, to give it a total of 3 different uses! I’m obsessed.

Alex Carro 3/5 Exfoliating Powder

I’m definitely going to be adding the Alex Carro 3/5 Exfoliating Powder to my permanent skincare collection. I’ve tried similar products to this before, but none have felt this good. It has a mixture of both physical and enzyme exfoliators to truly buff your skin. I said the same about the Facial Cleanser, but my skin felt amazingly smooth after I’d used this product. You simply add a bit of water to it, and apply it to your face for a deep exfoliation! It didn’t really have a noticable scent, but I’m not mad about that.

If your skin is a bit dry, you can mix this product with the 1/5 Balancing Face Oil for a gentle exfoliation. And you can also mix it with the 5/5 Multiuse Balm for a nourishing lip scrub.

I’ve tried these two forumlas from Alex Carro and I seriously can’t wait to try the rest. I’ve been mixing it with parts of my current skincare collection at the minute and it’s working great, but I can only imagine how incredible it will be if I use the whole range.

I don’t think I’ve been so impressed with a skincare brand in a long time. I honestly think you should check this out if you’re looking for a simple and effective skincare solution.

Men wearing makeup is no longer unusual. Whenever guys think of makeup, I reckon they imagine themselves looking like a clown, but that isn’t the case. Makeup can be used to enhance your features, and if the formula is good, it’ll be barely noticable.

MMUK MAN have a selection of products that are designed to improve every man’s apperance. Whether you’re looking to make your beard look fuller, your eyebrows neater, or your skin brighter, there’s a product for you.

MMUK MAN Make up for men review

Brow Fixx Brow Styling Gel

Let’s face it guys, some of us have crazy eyebrows. But worry no more, Brow Fixx from MMUK MAN is here to fix the problem. This product is basically a no-shine hair gel, for your eyebrows. Simply brush it through in the direction your brows go, and it’ll hold them in that shape all day. It’s really that simple, and you can say goodbye to crazy brows.

Even if you’re not interested in makeup, this is definitely a product you should have. It’s only£17.50 and comes in either a clear or coloured option.

Translucent Pressed Powder

We all get a little bit shiny from time to time, and not only does the MMUK MAN Translucent Pressed Powder reduce that, but it also smoothes out your complexion. You can use this over your usual skincare products or over a foundation. It’s unnoticable on the skin and doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a powder, which I love! It comes in different colours, so if you’re looking for a slight glow, there’s a version of this powder that will give you that too.

It’s available for £27.50, and comes in 5 shades. It’s honestly barely noticable on the skin. So if you apply a light dusting, noone will know you’ve used a powder, but your skin will be shine-free.

Close Up Concealer

Who doesn’t want to hide a blemish or undereye bag? I’ve used concealer for a long time now. Granted, I rarely use it, but it’s good to have one on hand. If you’ve got an important meeting, and a spot that just won’t go away, a concelear is your best friend. Even if you’ve had a rough night and want to look a bit more awake, a concealer can help with that too! The Close Up Concealer from MMUK MAN is one of the best I’ve ever tried. It blends perfectly into the skin, even with your fingertips, leaving it barely noticable. Apply a small amount to the area, and pat it into your skin. This ensures it doesn’t look cakey or streaky, but mimics the natural contours of your skin.

For £20, this product should be in every man’s grooming bag. It comes in 10 shades, so you’ll be able to get the right one for your skin tone.

Hi-Def Foundation

Foundation has always scared me. I’ve never used one before, and have only ever ventured as far as a tinted moisturiser. The Hi-Def Foundation from MMUK MAN is a great grooming addition for the guy who has skin imperfections. A little goes a long way with this product, so start with a small amount and blend it out. I’d recommend using the Close Up Concealer to cover up specific imperfections, and then smooth over a small amount of the foundation to even out your skin tone.

I don’t know if I’m a foundation convert, but I can definitely understand why someone would use it and love it. Especially this one. It’s silky finish feels great on the skin, and if you blend it out properly, it’s barely noticable.

This foundation costs £27.50 and is available in 10 shades.

So, what’s my verdict? Every product I’ve tried from MMUK MAN is formulated incredibly well. Each product feels really luxurious and is barely noticable when you blend it into the skin.

mmukman makeup for men review

I don’t think I need to start wearing a full face of makeup every day, but if you want to, I’m fully here for it! I’ll probably be making the Brow Fixx part of my daily routine though, it’s definitely one of my favourites.

I’ve always wanted to give a cut throat shave a try – but it’s pretty intimidating, right? Holding a blade against your neck is definitely a scary experience, but if you get it right, you get the best shave you can ever imagine.

For the past month, I’ve been trying to master a cut throat shave with Bluebeards Revenge. I’m overly cautious, so it takes me a little bit longer than shaving, which means I only save it for special occasions. I wouldn’t call myself a master just yet, but I’ve discovered a couple of tips that make it a lot easier, and I wanted to share them with you.

how to master a cut throat shave with bluebeards revenge

Fresh Blades

Whatever you do – don’t try and master a cut throat shave with blunt blades. Trust me, it won’t end well. I’ve been changing mine after every shave, which make sure the balde doesn’t catch on my facial hair or skin. You might think this is expensive, but not with The Bluebeards Revenge – each blade actually has two uses! You snap it in half and use one side per shave.

The Bluebeards Revenge Razor is £9.99 and you can get replacement blades for as little as £2.99

Steam Your Face

If only I’d have known this the first time I tried a close shave. I find it easier to use a cut throat razor just after I’ve gotten out of the bath or shower. The steam helps soften your facial hair, which makes the blade glide across easier. If you’re in a bit of a rush, heat up a towel and rest it on your skin for a minute or so. Not only does this do the job, but it feels nice too.

Raise Your Facial Hair

You can do this a number of ways, but I find that using a shaving brush and cream works the best. Using the shaving brush, lather the cream in the lid of the product. When you apply it to the skin, use circular motions to lift the hair and get to the skin. I’ve found that the Bluebeards Revenge Shaving Brush and Cream work incredibly well. No bristles come out of the brush, and the cream feels super light and refreshing on my skin.

The Bluebeards Revenge Shaving Brush is just £6.99, and the Shaving Cream is £9.99.

Shave Downwards

A pretty important tip if you ask me, but always shave downwards. You don’t want to try pulling a razor blade upwards on your skin. Start by stretching the skin tight, and gently move the blade down your skin. I always start from my sideburns and then work across my cheeks and neck. I tend to shape my facial hair, which can get a bit tricky, but I’m getting there.

Don’t Overdo It

Whatever you do, DON’T overdo it. If you go over an area too much, you’ll get ridiculous razor burn. Trust me, I’ve been there. Instead shave each area once, rinse your face with cold water, and then check out the areas again. If you find you’ve missed anywhere, go back in gently, but don’t rush it. Give your skin time to relax inbetween if you have to go back multiple times.

There you have it! My way of mastering a cut throat shave with Bluebeards Revenge. Shaving this way might seem daunting at first, but when you get the hang of it, it’s pretty straightforward.

All the products I’ve tried from The Bluebeards Revenge have helped make a cut throat shave a lot easier. If you’re wanting to try a cut throat shave yourself, all of their products are really affordable so you should definitely give it a go.

Every winter, it’s essential that you switch up your skincare routine. The cold weather can wreak havoc on your face, leaving it dry and irritated.

Gentlemen’s Tonic have a range of skincare products that have been developed to give men’s skin the treatment it needs. All formluas are light, yet have hydrating benefits. Which is exactly what most male skin needs throughout winter.

If you’re looking to give the gift of great skin, to yourself or a friend, you seriously need to check out Gentlemen’s Tonic. Here are some of my favourites…

Gentlemen’s Tonic Daily Foaming Cleanser

I’m actually a huge fan of foaming cleansers, but there aren’t many on the market. Well, not many that I like. The Gentlemen’s Tonic Daily Foaming Cleanser is a gentle product that removes excess oil and purifies the skin. The foam texture feels incredible, and definitely gives that spa-like feeling at home. Enriched with Alpine Moss and Water Chesnut, this cleanser maintains your skins’ PH balance and adds a boost of hydration. Perfect for the colder months! This is possibly one of my favourite cleansers, and really leaves my skin feeling refreshed and hydrated.

The Daily Foaming Cleanser costs £19

Gentlemen’s Tonic Exfoliating Facial Scrub

If you don’t exfoliate, you should. It helps to elminate any excess skin and smooth out your skin texture. The Gentlemen’s Tonic Exfoliating Facial Scrub utilises bamboo particles to gently slough away dead skin. Combine this with Cocoa and Shea Butter, and it’s clear to see why this exfoliator is popular. It leaves your skin feeling seriously soft, refreshed and ready for your moisturiser. I use this exfoliator around 3 times a week, usually at night before I apply my night cream, and my skin feels great. Would definitely recommend this product.

The Exfoliating Facial Scrub costs £19

Gentlemen’s Tonic Daily Moisturiser

All skincare routines should be rounded off with a great moisturiser. The Gentlemen’s Tonic is packed full of natural essential oils that hydrate the skin and keep it healthy. Due to it containing Gotu Kola, this cream has anti-inflammatory properties, making it great if you have any redness or after you’ve shaved. Like the face scrub, this product also contains Cocoa Butter which is super hydrating. At first, the scent of this product alarmed me slightly; I was convinced it was going to dry out my skin. But it didn’t! This moisturiser definitely does the job, and not only does it smell incredible, but it sinks right into your skin and leaves you looking fresh!

The Daily Moisturiser costs £28

I seriously couldn’t recommend Gentlemen’s Tonic enough. I’ve been a fan of the brand for the longest time, and if you’re ever in London, it’s totally worth checking out their salon in Mayfair.
